We have been discussing “The Great Commission” (Matthew - TopicsExpress

We have been discussing “The Great Commission” (Matthew 28:19), in particular the baptism aspect of it. Again, we are not attempting to debate the theology of baptisms. We wanted to use the baptism aspect because of the controversy surrounding the different methods used for baptisms. While there are many examples we could use to complete our explanation, for our purposes, we wanted to focus on just one. By focusing on just one, we believe we could best state the point and reveal the reason for our current assignment. Once again, we are searching for those characteristics that makes God who he is. Previously, we mentioned the five major largest religious denominations; however, we failed to name them. So that there is no confusion as to whom we were referencing, we want to list them to give a clearer picture. Our list included Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, and Presbyterians, in that order. Please keep in mind that this is a list of the top five largest religious denominations and is not to be taken as a complete listing. It is from these five denominations that we find our sub-groups of more than 75 different church bodies. Each of these church bodies claim to have a similar belief, all bound under the umbrella of Christianity. By this, we mean each of these church bodies is governed or duty-bound by the life, teachings, and example of Jesus Christ. And since these church bodies are so governed or duty-bound, should not there be a consensus amongst them. In particular, should there be variations permitted in the methods used for baptisms by the governed or duty-bound group? Or are they to use one method of baptism?
