We have been in touch with Anne Cooper, Museum Director at the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead. The fire is not immediately threatening the Sikes site, however evacuations have been ordered on the West side of the I-15 (Sikes is located right along the east side of I-15) as far south as Lake Hodges. If the fire jumps the I-15, conditions could change rapidly. Please join us in hoping for the safety of our Farmers Markets home, and offer our gratitude to Anne Cooper and site-caretaker Kenneth Rice for their efforts to protect the historic site (the Adobe house was destroyed in the 2007 Witch Creek Fire, and later rebuilt). The North San Diego Farmers Market sends thoughts for everyones safety and for property preservation to the San Dieguito River Park Rangers, the staff and members of the SDRP-JPA and the members of the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, as well as for all the properties under their collective guardianship.
