We have been receiving lots of questions as to why the shelter does not have a Trap, Neuter, and Release program (TNR). We know that lots of private organizations and individuals have TNR programs and that is great. Anything that can help to reduce the cat overpopulation in our area is great. We believe it is not the right type of program for our humane shelter. We believe shelters should NOT release animals back to the wild that are brought in to us to be cared for. Lots of animals, especially cats, are brought in by people and law enforcement who do not want the animals back where they were. Dogs and cats are not meant to be running wild out on the streets. We hope you can understand our point of view. For those of you who do have TNR programs, please post the information here and we are happy to share the information.
