We have been receiving many complaints recently on kids skateboarding and we would like to address a few of the concerns. There is a sign posted No Skateboarding in the park/common area at Scotts Mill on Scotts Ridge Trail, this sign was put up by the home owners association and we cannot enforce homeowner rules. We also cannot keep kids from skateboarding in neighborhoods where they dont live. We do have a Town ordinance that addresses play in the street and that person engaged in play in the street cant impede traffic. Persons on skateboards should move and allow traffic to flow freely. We understand that some communities were advertised as retirement communities, however the streets are public and we cannot prohibit kids from playing in those neighborhoods.
