We have been trying to establish a street verge garden at our place and were using self watering pots as the beginnings of the project. This cuts down on the amount to time we have to water until more interest develops and more people are committing the tend the garden. We had a good selection of herbs and veg going, but this weekend someone stole a box of box of corn, box of tomatoes and a tub of rosemary. They are reasonable size boxes and full of soil and water and heavy to carry so Im not sure how far they had to go...! Im feeling a bit disappointed and my enthusiasm for the project has diminished a little. I just hope that they develop a love of gardening themselves when they find the joy and love of growing things - perhaps they will come back and join the verge project then...!
