We have been working on a natural toothpaste for a while, so this article doing the rounds about the possible health danger of Triclosan in one toothpaste brand (and in a lot of hand sanitizers too) is relevant for us. The main issue seems to be that the animal safety testing that was done found the ingredient had serious health effects especially on mice, but this was deemed irrelevant because it was animal testing rather than humans. Our main hold up with the toothpaste is being able to source a credible tooth remineralizer alternative to Fluoride. There are some, but hard to source. We do find that a lot of people who have never tried a natural toothpaste before don’t like the taste as they’re accustomed to brands with SLS. That’s because natural cleansers have a bitter taste compared to SLS and they foam less. But sometimes there are compromises with using natural products. We think ours tastes okay, just not amazing.
