We have contributed enormously to this narrative of the South - TopicsExpress

We have contributed enormously to this narrative of the South Sudanese not being qualified by throwing in unproven statistics of 60%, 70%, 80%. 90% illiterate rates. If this recent Ministerial directive failed, then it would not be because of lack of qualified South Sudanese, but lack of planning. I challenge the Ministry of Labor, Bureau of Statistics, and Chambers of Commerce among others to publish a database of the qualified South Sudanese. I want our Ambassadors in the neighboring countries that will be severely affected by the implementation of this directives to argue with the statistics on their hands. Why should a Kenyan, Ugandan, Ethiopian, Eritrean, etc. with a degree in Human Resources fresh out from their universities secured a job in the South Sudan than a South Sudanese with the same degree, and possibly have one year work experience? This will have a huge implication in foreign relations with these countries, and it is time for the government of the South Sudan to work over time to bring the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chamber of Commerce, South Sudanese Media Houses, relevant parliamentary committees, cabinet on board to have a consistent message in dealing with the backlash. I have seen many South Sudanese wondering why these countries are making noise about this directive, but pursuing the welfare of your citizens is interest driven than whether it is fair, right,…etc.
