We have faced the uncomfortable truth that no industry is truly green. We have acknowledged that industrial capitalism ensures social injustice, ecocide, and misogyny - whether that capitalism is Big Eco or Oil & Gas. We recognize that geopolitical militarism and the industrial economy itself are a many-headed beast that will not stop itself until the last land has been destroyed, the biosphere killed, and the last money profited. The only benefit has been for the companies. The carbon credits they have received have allowed them to avoid taxes and have permitted them to continue polluting. Companies have seen earnings skyrocket through the use of these carbon credits in stock exchanges. In summary, the only benefits have been for the transnational companies. There has been a high cost to the natural world, which continues to be killed by industrially-accelerated climate catastrophe.
