We have finally been able to catch our breath and spend some time thanking all of those who have been supporting this fire department. Now, we realize there are still mistruths out there about what it is exactly, and to say our phones have been busy is an understatement. What we want you to know is that this now mean we will assess 150.00$ annually to each resident, business, and church within our community. We do not know as of yet just WHEN those bills will be issued. With this passing, the county commission now appoints board members, and they have said that may not happen until the end of December or January. We anticipate when this board assembles they will immediately take up putting out invoices, and beginning the process. Secondly, there are provisions for the hardship cases. The law is clear and explicit about this, and the board will take each situation case by case in dealing with it. With all of this said, we want to thank YOU for your support. The day to day operations, calls, equipment, and training are not cheap or easy but it IS worth it. This community has not only voted in favor of the district, but did so by 70%...!! We are humbled at the support, and are working harder than ever to press on making this department one of the greatest. After all, your family, our family, your friends, and our friends, deserve nothing less if and when an emergency comes to their door. Thanks again, West Blount people! If you should need us do my hesitate to call! Congrats to not just West Blount Fire, but to each of you for your new fire district!
