We have finished a prototype of the line level preamplifier LKV - TopicsExpress

We have finished a prototype of the line level preamplifier LKV plans to introduce late this year or early next. It is a dual mono design with inputs (XLR jacks) for balanced signals as well as RCA jacks for single ended inputs. Output can also be balanced or single ended. Two stepped attenuators using discrete resistors control volume. A differential, cascode circuit executed with low noise jfets and biased with a stiff current source provides two, user-selectable levels of gain (high or low). The unit also offers the option of a straight wire mode in which the music signal bypasses the gain stage altogether and passes through only the stepped attenuators and the current amplifying output stage. Both noise and distortion are very low, while dynamic heardroom is high. LKV will be demonstrating this prototype, along with the Phono 2-SB, at the Capital Audiofest just outside Washington, DC on July 26-28. Visit us in Room 512.
