We have for the first time since the second world war a the prospect of another war that envelopes the entire world. Putins self obsession is bordering on the long lost days of Imperial Russia of old. He is a mix of Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin all wrapped into one,that most Russians strangely support. And on the other end in the west we have Obama. There is no contest. Putin overrides and controls most things Obama seeks to do. Obama is seen to be weak on anything to do with World Politics, whilst presenting as a stuttering buffon of a leader. We need to remember that Obamas earliest exposure to Socialist dogma and ideology, may account for his fear of confronting a leader like Putin, but Obama looks and is weak against the likes of a War footing Putin. Putin cares little for the protestations of the West or NATO due in part to the Trillions of dollars Putin has spent on preparing his forces for such an event. Whilst Obama has been drawing down the capabilities of the US military, Putin has been spending up big. China and India have been watching Russia, and much like the Russian,these emerging superpowers now eclipse even the capabilities of the US on the world stage. The US can no longer claim to be in the same leagues as these countries and when it comes to projecting its influence in the NATO aligned nations, Putins response is to laugh at the prospect. NATO and the US know this full well. And what will be the result? Most of Europe need Russian gas and Oil. Even the UK are beholden to Putins Russia. Same with most of the nations that share a common border. And now you want to cut Russia off? Putin will do exactly what he wants to do in the region and nothing the US can say or do will change that. If there was a Reganesk type US leader, then maybe the intent may be a little different, but the US can not project itself like it used to. And given Russias position, Obama is about to face his nemesis. Putin will eat Obama alive and thats why Obama wont confront Putin. Obama is just a symptom of what ails the USA at the present. We are seeing a real and determined tectonic shift in geopolitical power. I can, unfortunately here the death rattle in the breath of the US and Putin and others are gathering to fill the void. If China calls in its debt, and aligns itself with the Russians, we in Australia may find ourselves very exposed indeed.
