We have found Kats owners. Well, they actually called me after I - TopicsExpress

We have found Kats owners. Well, they actually called me after I left my phone number with a local vets office. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first given the poor condition this cats coat was in. He was also covered in fleas and stunk terribly. His owners admitted that he started to run out the door and eventually they just allowed him to do it. They also admitted that the last couple of months, he has been somewhat neglected due to their incredibly busy schedules. He said that Kat always stayed right by the house and always came back inside the same day he went out. I talked to them and could tell that this kitty was their beloved pet. Their kids had been crying every night because Kat had not come home like he normally did. I explained to them that he really should not be allowed outside. Persians do not have the same instincts that regular cats do and their coats also easily mat. Not to mention the diseases out there he could pick up and the fleas he was covered in (and bringing in and out of their home). At first they said that maybe they should let me find him a home, because they felt terrible and knew they had not been taking care of him like they should have been. I told them not to rush into a decision, that when they got home (they were out) that they should talk to their kids (who are 11 and 15) and explain to them the situation. Find out if they would be willing to take proper care of him and make sure he doesnt get outside. I didnt want to see this cat taken away from the family he loves if they were willing to change their ways and take proper care of him. Well, they talked to their kids and they all agreed to take care of him and not let him back outside. They said it was a big reality check for them and they felt so terrible for the condition they let Kat get into. They actually said it was a blessing that I had picked him up LMAO! Any ways, I clipped him down, cleaned his ears, cut his nails and bathed him for them. I had already FeLV tested him, de-wormed him and put Revolution on him. So he was all set to go home. We brought him home last night and they were so happy and HE was so happy as well. Rubbing up against them and purring away. I got a BIG hug and she insisted I take $40 for grooming him plus a free pedicure (she is an esthetician). Im happy he is home with his family :)
