We have gotten word from the Society Exchequer that the Kingdom of Calontir proceeded with the distribution of free event tokens without proper consultation of the Society Exchequer, the Society Seneschal and the Corporate Treasurer as to the viability of such program, including its impact regarding personal benefit. They are going to work through the methods and controls for using such tokens, but for now they are not allowed. And I agree that we do want to encourage new member attendance. However, we must also strive to maintain our 501(c)(3) status. Therefore, this program is not to be used or promoted. A really good option that we can use right now is for local groups to host a free revel/event or a donation-only event for all to attend.
