We have had many inquiries about Pixie, formerly Dee Dee at NYCACC, so we want to share an update on this tiny little girl. She left the shelter with one of our representatives early this afternoon and here she is during her freedom ride. She clearly has a lot to say! As you can see, and as the shelter advised, she has some mobility issues, which could be caused by a spinal lesion, a herniated disc, or a number of other things. The shelter indicated she was experiencing some pain, therefore, she is currently on pain medication. She will soon be seeing an orthopedic specialist to determine the root cause and treatment plan. Also, its clear that there is an issue with at least one of her eyes. Her left eye is in bad shape and appears to be dying and shriveling up. An ophthalmologist will decide if this will need to be removed. Pixie/Dee Dee is still a happy girl who greets everyone with a wagging tail, is at a good weight for her size, and has a nice coat. Her long nails have been trimmed and she has an excellent appetite. The ACC released her into our care before her hold was up, so she is technically a foster until the hold is up on 1/5. Pitties.Love.Peace is still solely responsible for the cost of any medical treatment she receives, which may be extensive. If you are able to donate towards her care, please visit our website, pittieslovepeace. Pixie will not be available for adoption until any and all medical issues have been addressed and treated. No PLP dog leaves our care until they are medically cleared. Thanks everyone for your concern and support for Pixie and PLP! She deserves the best in her golden years and we intend to provide that for her!
