We have had the most wonderful success story emailed to us overnight, we just had to share it:- I got my William (Cat) from you over 2 years ago now. A shy, unconfident cat. He was 13,had a grade 4 heart murmur ,eyes that would need treating everyday and skin allergies that would need constant treatment. I felt after 4 years of losing my cat Joel , I was ready to give my love to another cat. I didnt expect to fall in love with an older cat! When I saw him at RSPCA Chesterfield I knew he was the one! I couldnt explain it,he had that sad look in his eye, I felt drawn to him. Maybe I could give this elderly cat a good life for a few years? Perhaps I wouldnt allow myself to get too attached and concentrate on making this sweet fella happy? Pah! Wasnt so straight forward! For the first few weeks I wondered if I had done the right thing. Willie (his name became) was so stressed. He struggled to settle, scratching at cupboards to hide in, running away at any noise, jumping at every sound. I lost him a few times too but always found him hiding away. His skin allergies got worse and he was in a lot of discomfort. So I had to give him special baths daily and he was put on steroids. After a lot of experimenting I discovered he was allergic to cat food! So now I have a special diet for him. No more bleeding scabs and weeping sores. A healthy glossy coat. One of a cat half his age now! And no more medication! Eventually Willie started trusting me and trusting people who came to the house which he always found very unnerving. He is a totally different cat - Heathy, happy and a lot more trustworthy. We have our little routines. Loads of cuddles in the morning in bed. (He dribbles when purring so It can get quite wet!) Brushes in the afternoon on the decking (weather depending) and at night time, cuddles and snuggles on the sofa. He never liked being picked up but now he loves it, especially if I put some music on and we have a little dance! I know I shouldnt but willie loves his cat treats. When I rattle that box he comes running! I now have a confident, affectionate Loveable cat. He is 15 now and his eyes dont look sad anymore. His eyes say Im having the most amazing time of my life and I am happy! We are good for each other. We make each other happy and I am absolutely and totally in love with him! He makes my house a pleasure to come home to ,especially as he greets me at the bottom of the stairs when I come in the hallway. I cant wait to get home if iv been away and I miss him so! Thankyou so much Rspca for having him. You all do a fantastic job there and I will support you in your fundraising. From one very very happy loved up Cat owner! And a very very happy cat :-))
