We have heard that there was an incident between a runner and a bicyclist on the route Tuesday night. Although we have not yet been contacted by either party and have no details regarding what occurred, I feel this is probably a good time to reiterate some trail ettiquette. Please be courteous to everyone using our trails, sidewalks, and streets. This includes other runners, bicycles, cars, and pedestrians. We are not the only people downtown on Tuesdays and we should always try to minimize our impact to those who live and work downtown. -Do not walk/run more than 2 wide, even on the wide trails. -Just like a car, stay to the right except to pass. -Move to the right when someone needs to pass you. -Keep dogs on a short leash. -No jaywalking. -JQRC advises against wearing headphones during our runs. If you want to wear headphones, please consider only wearing one earpiece and keep your volume low so that you can hear things around you. -If you are involved in an incident, stop and exchange information. It is vital that everyone practice proper trail ettiquette to ensure the safety of everyone who uses our trail system and sidewalks. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas regarding safety at our runs please email me at president@jackquinnsrunners.
