We have just been out to the Kya sands informal settlement to donate a little bit food for the people and to check if all the animals have been helped. Although the area is horrific and the people desperately need some aid, the animals (that survived) have all been evacuated thanks to SPCA , other welfare organizations and Blue bush animal clinic who were all there yesterday. If you would like to assist with the animals treatment please contact Blue Bush animal clinic to make a donation. There are a few animals still there that are uninjured. The people in this area really need assistance. There are organizations providing food and donations which is amazing. We feel what they need more help with is assistance with rebuilding their shacks, removing the rubble etc. Ways you can help (besides for donations) If you have a bakkie or a trailer, help remove some of the rubble to take to the dump. You can help with lifting the people to hardware stores where they are buying wood to rebuild their homes. Provide building materials and tools (spades/picks/wheelbarrows). You can drop this at one of the donation stations at the top of the settlement. Manual labour- if you know what you are doing, you can help these people rebuild their homes. These are just a few suggestions from our side. We hope that everyone helps in any way they can X
