We have just completed a Detail on this Porsche 997 Cabriolet. Just to be different and to make our life a little easier we removed the wheels and put a set of spares on the car. The original wheels were then sent away for refurbishment. Now, starting with the roof we wetted it down and applied some APC cleaner which was gently agitated into the fabric. After this it was washed off and inspected, all ok now onto the paintwork. This was also wetted down before applying some G101 cleaner. After letting it settle for a while (and do its thing) we pressure washed off all the paintwork. We noticed varying amounts of tar on the sides so out came the glue and tar remover. After this was washed off we clayed the paintwork using a clay cloth (fantastic invention, better than the usual clay bar). After claying and washing again the car was dried and brought into the detailing bay. After an inspection we marked the areas that had scratches before masking up as required. The wet flatting was carried out in various areas and was subsequently machined to remove the remaining marking. We only had to do 2 passes with different pads and compounds. The whole of the bodywork was then inspected for any other imperfections and we satisfied ourselves that a good job had been done. The paintwork was then cleansed prior to applying a final coat of paint sealant. Turning to the interior, firstly it was hoovered and to be fair it was pretty good inside (by way of a change). The leather was cleaned and fed. The interior trims were also cleaned and a preservative was applied to enhance and protect. After cleaning the windows a final inspection was carried out. We thought it was a fantastic finish. The car was the put under covers til the wheels arrived 3 days later. When we fitted the newly refurbished wheels the client was called. Words like great job and damn fine were bandied about so we felt that a good job had been done for our client.
