We have just completed the design for a healing retreat center in Sautee, GA in collaboration with Sustenance Design. It has been our most extensive design project so far, and includes 100+ lodging accommodations, a spa, a living-water filled natural swimming pond, several teaching studios, yoga and meditation huts, extensive trail systems, a fully integrated rainwater-harvesting and passive irrigation RAM-pump system (thanks to our team member, Ben Portwood!) from the existing 100 waterfall, and bountiful organic gardens for food, medicine, and habitat restoration. To top off all of the building, water, and infrastructure systems, the design also features diverse orchards, a food forest, a Cherokee medicine wheel labyrinth garden, essential oil gardens for the spa, pollinator meadows, cut flower gardens, fragile habitat restoration plantings, and culinary, tea, and medicinal herb gardens. Through extensive site analysis and assessment, project vision articulation, and thoughtful observation, we are confident and overjoyed that the design simultaneously facilitates and reflects our capacity to heal our planet and ourselves.
