We have no been in support of the shelter for 5 months. Here is a condenced overview of some of the major changes at the shelter. reactive actions 1. to get as many dogs off the concrete floors as possible. This is a reactive action. I saw many dogs curled up on the concrete outside Sunday night, two weeks ago. So my plan is to cover part of the outside area with tarps. We want to do this tomorrow. If you can help, that will be great, those tarps are very heavy for us ladies. PLEASE come and HELP at the shelter tomorrow. 2. Secondly, we are using the wooden boxes we received from Shatchie in Taipei on bricks just to get as many dogs as possible off the concrete, I know itll be garbage after the winter but that is better than dogs suffering. Apparently this wood has woodworm, but right now its the best we can do and Im sure the dogs dont mind. 3. Finding a laundromat where I can do the washing of the shelter. Yesterday that smelly, urinated-drenched pile of washing was finally cleared. 3. pro-actively We will cover the floors with a non-toxic cover. Rita Blunck has done a lot off research in this department and has sourced some stuff and she will contact the company here in Taiwan again after Chinese New Year. 4.pro-actively The upgrade of kennel 9, Section A will start soon after CNY. Architects of Taichung together with the MBA students of The Oath Club of ChienDa University in Taipei, are upgrading this run as an experiment on how to minimize the need for manpower regarding the maintenance of the shelter. 5. pro-actively A wall will be built around the shit hole/septic tank to reduce the risk of contamination. 6. pro-actively I sourced an organization who will supply dog food to the mamas we are currently supplying with dog food. This will free up some of the organizations money. 7. pro-actively Because we now have the money which we previously used to spend on dog food for the mamas, we were able to employ a young man full time who will help us at the shelter as from tomorrow. 8.pro-actively Debby Yang works with and has years of experience medicating and rescuing the dogs on the street. She has recently had a bad fall and the plates in her leg were removed two weeks ago. She will now be teaching and sharing her experience with this young man we are employing over weekends so that we can continue this service to the dogs in and around Hsinchu. 9. pro-actively We bought two reconditioned laundromat washing machines thanks to the money of those who supported the fundraise event of January 11. 10. pro-actively One of our MANA members, Marselina Versper, is sourcing the camera systems for us. This should be finalized shortly after Chinese New Year. 11. Pro-actively We took pictures of every dog at the shelter, THANK YOU Manuel Sieber and the volunteers of The Oath Club, and in the near future we will have a record of the history and treatment of every dog. 12.Pro-actively We are busy creating a website serving the bigger community of organizations and people who serve animals in need. 13. Pro-actively We are in the process of finding land to buy to relocate the shelter and... (this Ill keep as a surprise for later). A villa for our dogs, the ultimate upgrade. I dont always have time to explain the big picture to everybody. Im not an organization, just me keeping a lot of things together. I hope you like what I have shared with you. Thanks again for your support We couldnt have done this without the help of each one of you I keep this together, but each one of you empower me and collectively we CREATE a TOMORROW for the animals which is safer and more comfortable. What Ive shared with you is an overview of 5 months of hard work.
