We have now been in the hospital for 5 days. The doctors have concluded that the rash/blisters on Kennedys arm is shingles!! Its very rare for this to happen but it can happen and of course it happens to Kennedy. Due to the stress that Kennedys body was under when she went into septic shock the chicken pox vaccine that she received as a baby is coming out. But because it has not spread any where else on her body but her hand and arm and is following the nerves on her arm the doctors are calling it shingles. I know that it may sound confusing but that is the best that I can explain it. So she has been on antibiotics to help clear it up faster and to make sure she does not get an infection. We will not be able to go home until the blisters start to scab over. Today has been the first day that Kennedys arm and hand are looking better some of the redness is going away and the blisters are starting to scab over. Its been pretty painful for her but she is taking it like a camp!!! She has to stay in isolation so it has made for some long days. Trying to keep a 2 year old entertained has been tiring. There is only so much play dough, bubbles and coloring that we can do, not to mention we have watched Frozen about 100 times and taken a couple of selfies. We have also had a few dance parties which had kept the nurses entertained too. Some one from the child life team has come in every day and played with Kennedy. It helps me out and gives me a breather for a few minutes. Today I got to enjoy the farmers market that the hospital hosts every Wednesday. For a few minutes I was able to enjoy some fresh air and some good food. I have not been outside since we got here Friday night. I am hoping that we will be able to go home by the weekend but only time will tell and we have to take things day by day. Thank you to everyone that keeps Kennedy in their prayers as we fight through this. Your comments and well wishes mean so much to us. I AM KENNEDY HER ME ROAR
