We have reason to party! All squatter structures were demolished by the relevant authorities today. On the other hand, I have sympathy with those who toiled for hours and hours in the sun to erect them. Julius Malemas supporters provided the financial assistance of R500 per home, so they are the financial losers. Because of laws protecting the squatters, a whole lot of red tape had to be followed before they could be evicted. A lot of misdirected sweat (and maybe tears) could have been prevented.
