We have rules that govern our lives, but they aren’t oppressing. - TopicsExpress

We have rules that govern our lives, but they aren’t oppressing. They’re there to guide us away from actions that are contrary to the foundation of love and keep us close to our God, who IS love (1 John 4:4-10). They’re a reference and guidelines for our everyday life. The 10 Commandments is that guideline. Yeshua made it clear that all the laws of the prophets hang on two commandments, love God, and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40). However, keeping your life in line with the 10 Commandments will naturally bring you to a place of synchronicity with God’s heart because all those commandments hang on the concept of love. If you break the commandments, you show a lack of God’s love in you. God said nothing He wrote can be changed and He means every word. In our quest to become more in line with God, these are a great resource. I’ve explained each commandment as best I can to show the idea that love is the foundation of all of them. If you truly claim to live by loving standards, then these should be no problem. We find everything we need for our spiritual lives in the Bible. It is our spiritual food (Luke 4:4) that teaches us God’s ways of true love and true compassion. Our faith in God comes from knowing what the Bible says, so it is an important part of being a believer to read the Bible.
