Many of you rightfully question the ethics and effectiveness of the government’s plan which is is being pursued due to the actions of humans not wolves, “because much of their boreal forest habitat has been sliced into small fragments by a web of roads, pipelines, clear-cut swathes and well pads.” A recent study is providing evidence that the Canadian government’s efforts to kill wolves to “protect” caribou in Alberta is not an effective method to increase caribou population numbers. To actually increase the population of caribou in Alberta, this study says, limits need to be placed on industrial development in the region.
