We have some good news for you all :) The support this group and cause has gained particularly over the past few weeks has been phenomenal and means we are now looking into gaining registered charity status and if this is feasible. Now the not so good news but something I feel needs addressing. The sick group of breeders and peddlers who decided to set up a (not very supported) group to try and discredit us because they have been exposed themselves, is spewing lies which may (though I doubt) cause some doubt about what we aim for here AT THE EXPENSE OF THE BIRDS !!! Apparently we beg cash to buy birds for friends well if this is so: 1. We must be awful friends as we only buy the very sick, psychologically damaged and even dying birds. 2. These birds have almost ALL needed expensive vet treatments and tests. The fund pays for these whilst being safehoused and assessed but new owners are then responsible for continuing treatment. This is all credit to the commitment of the amazing members who are willing and happy to continue with this expense. 3. None of the admins trawl preloved or gumtree for birds but in fact get sent links to needy birds for sale or people with concerns for a bird are advised to contact us by others in the bird community who know we are the only group to pick up the pieces rescues cant. (Oh and NEVER has a bird been purchased from ANY pet shop) 4. Most of p4ps rescued babies are with people none of the admins even had on their friends list until after the bird was placed with them. Homes are chosen for location to pick up in emergencies, expertise, access to top avian vets. (Vicky - cocker, Helen -Sid, Alison - Minty, Jon -Percy etc etc. Im sure will be happy to confirm !!!) Should these false allegations persist AT THE EXPENSE OF THE BIRDS believe me, action will be taken to protect the reputation against this slander FOR THE SAKE OF THE BIRDS in desperate need of this safety net.
