We have two eastern screech owls in our care right now at Dane County Humane Societys Four Lakes Wildlife Center, both dealing with eye issues. Eastern screech owls are found in two color morphs, grey and rufous (red), and we are caring for one of each. The grey color is the most common with only 1/3 of the population being the rufous color. These diminutive owls are often reported to us as baby owls because of their small size, but they are mighty hunters eating one of the most varied diets of any of the North American owls.
