We hear some say they have no faith, as if nature made them that - TopicsExpress

We hear some say they have no faith, as if nature made them that way, blaming their genes. In fact, it is not an explanation but the admission of an attitude. “Only believe” Christ said, implying we can believe, as an act, a decision (Mark 5,36). So not believing is a decision also. Unbelief may seem almost natural but the Bible describes human nature as fallen and faulty. Christ sent the Holy Spirit explicitly to expose unbelief for what it is, a reflection upon the integrity of God. Divine grace restores spiritual sensitivity and re-disposes human instinct towards God. Faith is not a mental exercise to believe the impossible, or believing what we know is not true. It is not believing “something” at all. Faith is trust in God. In the Gospels Jesus never talks about believing something will happen, a miracle perhaps, but always about believing in Him (John 5,24). God bless you today. REINHARD BONNKE
