We held a career symposium for incoming freshman at Asheshi - TopicsExpress

We held a career symposium for incoming freshman at Asheshi University. Visited Cape Coast Slave Castle. Mourned. Ended the inaugural Camp LEAP in the village with a closing ceremony and open mic led by the kids. Worked on my next novel in verse by the ocean. Ate lobster. Toasted one of the LEAP writers who just got a two book offer from Harlequin. Gave Mr. Easy a Samsung Galaxy 3 cause his was cracked. Bought the 5.99 year old a kente backpack for first grade. Gave away books to each child in Konko, including a copy of Kadir Nelsons beautiful I HAVE A DREAM to each graduating student. Drank wine and swapped stories with Nikki (in her Hokie gear), the Queen Mother (in her royal Fuchsia), and fifty-eleven other folks til all hours of the night. Committed to bringing them all back next year; To finish the village library; To launch a national poetry slam for Ghanaian students; To work. And, to top it all off, went shopping in the mall, whereupon the owner of one boutique after hearing about our work, wanted to make a donation so she wrote a check to LEAP on the spot. Id say it was a great week. Love this job!
