We held an important hearing today in the Ways & Means Committee on concerns surrounding Obamacare’s ability to accurately verify an individual’s income and eligibility for tax credits for the purchase of insurance coverage. Right now, we have a scenario in which both taxpayers in general and individuals purchasing Obamacare coverage will face painful consequences because billions of hard-earned taxpayer dollars are walking out the door to individuals who may or may not be eligible for these credits. The administration’s frequent unwillingness and clear inability to competently enforce portions of the law will cause real harm to real folks. It’s further proof that we need to scrap this law in favor of patient-centered solutions like HR 2300 that will empower individuals and families with access to affordable health care choices.
