We honor and remember those that have gone, those that give and those that gave. Today in the Lyle family we miss Grandpa Rick who passed four years ago today - evacuated from London to the West Country during WW2, his uncle one of the youngest RAF pilots, shot down and lost just days after D-Day. We remembered Rick and John Shute with Great Auntie Di two weeks ago in England, she serving in the WAF during the war. We honor Lt Cmdr James A Lyle, (grandpa and great grandpa) who was a hero and survivor at Pearl Harbor. We honor Major General James M Lyle, (grandpa and father) a hero and survivor of Vietnam, Gulf War. We honor Col Johnny Hester (Uncle and Brother in Law) a hero of Afghanistan and Iraq. So many other immediate family members, Great Grandpa and Grandpa Gramig who served in the Pacific, Uncle Doug Henry, Cmdr US Navy, and many more who are serving or have served, our children will know your service and sacrifices. We also honor & celebrate the many friends and classmates who we know and serve from VMI, celebrating her 175th year today, November 11th 1839.
