We, human beings, we never learn well from our History, and our leaders have the curious propensity to repeat the same mistakes again and again, causing havoc, destruction and massive loss of human life. The usual problem is that leaders of different countries are looking from different angles and carrying on their shoulders completely opposite and conflicting considerations as well senses of values. From the UNITED STATES point of view, their strategic consideration is very simple, and that is to protect the Western world way of life, freedom and democracy. But, that way of life could not be sustained by colonial rule and domination anymore, but instead, it has to rely on free trade, fair trade ( using the West standard ), and transparent rule of the Law as well as iron-clad protection of intellectual property rights, which I do agree, but I have to add that Piracy, buccaneering on the high sea, were first invented and applied by the British navy against the Spanish Gold galleons in the Caribbean Sea ! The West had the complete dominance and supremacy for the past 400 years, from the Dutch and Portuguese, then passing the torch to the Spanish, and to the British which truly had mankind first WORLD EMPIRE ( The sun never sets down in the British Victoria Era Empire ) as it included the UK, SCOTLAND & IRELAND, Gibraltar & Malta controlling the Western entrance into the Mediterranean, Egypt & Sudan & Kenya & Tanzania & Somalia controlling the Eastern Mediterranean basin & East Africa as well as the Red Sea ( except Djibouti, the most crucial military port controlled by the French ), Southern Africa with all the gold & diamonds and mineral riches, The Middle East ( from Palestine, Syria, Jordan, to Iran, Irak, all the Gulf sheikdoms except Saudi Arabia which came under the protaction of the USA, therefore controlling a huge portion of world Oil, and we should remember that SHELL & BP are the 2 biggest oil companies, and they are British ), INDIA & PAKISTAN with its huge market and resources, Burma, Malaysia, and British crown jewel of the East, namely the city of SINGAPORE. We should bear in mind that the vast Australian continent and Canada were British colonies until very recently. But this over-extended mega-empire was almost ruined to bankrupcy during the First World War against Germany, and the West leadership Torch had to pass again into the United States by default, but that passing of the Torch was very quiet, efficient, smooth and willingly, because both the USA and Great Britain are Anglophone countries, sharing the same culture, same values, same customs and way of life, same language and even overlapping strategic interests ( Roosevelt has said those famous words, during the darkest hour of England, when Germany was on the verge of destroying the R.A.F. and invading the British islands 1941, beginning of Second World War, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL ALWAYS ACT AS THE ARSENAL OF DEMOCRACY, meaning that America would do its best to save England and the Free world, no matter how high the price ). But, there is a new game changer today, as CHINA is rising up and fast to become the second world economy after Deng Xiao Ping had started the second Chinese revolution of opening up its economy. CHINA is galloping fast, to challenge American leadership, not yet today, but in the next 20 years for sure. America will never willingly accept that fact or to pass the torch to a perceived challenger and future enemy or competitor. The future road ahead will be very dangerous, and we shall see many conflicts and frictions on the High Sea, possibly culminating in a huge final showdown between the 2 giants. The doctrine of MAHAN will stay true, and who shall control all the sea lanes, will control the world future destiny. All those crucial and critical choke points will be extremely important and they will be key-assets to the next world super-power. CHINA race to develop a blue navy, and especially to possess big aircraft-carriers ( re, LIAONING class ), clearly demonstrates that it is willing and it has the desire to go for the future goal of a strong navy in order to be able to protect its world commerce, especially its supply of Oil from the Middle East, and it is also plain obvious that CHINA is very conscious of its vulnerability to be strangled easily in those choke points. The USA is also moving in the same direction. That bloody life & death conflict will happen, and the question is only WHEN...If it happens, Oil & Gold will go through the roof, and the only safe place is South America. With vast arable land, plentiful of food and water, and a certain neutrality stance, South America will be the obvious candidate to escape any brutal consequence of that conflict. I recommend to all FB friends to learn well SPANISH & PORTUGUESE, especially young people and children, who will witness that ARMAGEDDON.....
