We immediately require a full time Contract Health and Safety Advisor for work up at Foster Creek. This is a camp job, and preference will be given to candidates who are already set up as Contractors, with their own trucks and equipment. This position has the possibility for being long term for the right candidate. Shift: Seven (7) Days on, Seven (7) days off. Hours: (10+) Days Reporting to the H&S Senior Advisor, you will be a key H&S member, facilitating the availability and delivery of H&S training materials, including best work practices and procedures. Duties will include: • Spend at least 70% or more of your work time in the field, the remainder in the office completing paperwork etc. • Assist in the Emergency Response Plan, consulting in ongoing development, implementation and preparedness (exercises). • Assist the H&S Senior Advisor in the implementation of procedures – analyze and recommend any improvements. • Provide technical and facilitation support in hazard assessment reviews, incident investigations and provide emergency response expertise when required. • Promote the awareness of hazard identification, elimination and control; building and fostering an environment that supports awareness and cooperation. • Attend all meetings such as daily contractor toolbox meetings, safety advisor meetings and shift safety meetings. • Assist the Senior H&S Advisor and management with any other tasks as directed. Qualifications: • NCSO certification, with 1-3 years of safety industry experience. • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with others. • Strong organizational skills and good working knowledge of MS Office. • Respond calmly to emergency and/or critical situations; handle confidential information in an ethical manner. • Good working knowledge of OH&S, EUB and WCB regulations and legislation. • Ability to work independently and unconventional hours on occasion. • Valid Class 5 Drivers License. • Prior industry experience in oil and gas industry would be an asset. • This is a safety sensitive position and pre-assignment D&A testing will be required.
