We in the APC are concerned about INEC Nigerias poor conduct of its third phase of permanent voter cards distribution exercise which ended today, covering 12 states across the federation. The exercise was marred by lack of preparedness, poor logistics and inadequate supplies. Many of our supporters have complained about problems that point to a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise our support base and sabotage the 2015 electoral process. This is unacceptable! INEC should not allow itself to be used by unpatriotic elements to stand in the way of Nigerians yearning for credible democratic change come 2015. Election is not merely about the ritual of voting. Election is a process that covers party registrations, party primaries, voters registration, political campaigns, election proper and post-election litigations. INEC is mandated by law to offer level-playing ground to all parties involved. Past elections in Nigeria have fallen short of acceptable democratic standards. As a result, INEC has lost the trust of Nigerian masses. To earn that trust, INEC must demonstrate its willingness to safeguard the voting right of every single Nigerian voter irrespective of his party or creed.
