We jumped into a TAXI outside a busy BAZAAR, gave the driver our destination and asked him to use the meter. He confirmed that he would. Im not sure what went through his HEAD but after driving for a few minutes he said the meter would be too EXPENSIVE due to traffic and its better if I paid a fixed charge of 50 LIRA. I can usually smell a SCAM and told him that I PREFERRED the meter or pay him a fixed charge of 25 Lira. He pulled up and said I could get out and get another taxi --- which I did. There were DOZENS of taxis just sitting around so I got another one with ease. The second taxi USED his meter and got me to my hotel with 12 LIRA on the meter within FIVE minutes. What I cannot understand is, why did the first LOONIE not take the 25 I offered but instead pulling in and lighting a FAG? I think maybe he BLUFFED and lost.
