We just got back onto Oklahoma pavement. Her procedure went well - TopicsExpress

We just got back onto Oklahoma pavement. Her procedure went well and we can already tell a bit of a difference in her tone, mostly in her wrist. She was walking a little funny but it is just an adjustment. We saw her epileptologist today and we are going to try to take her off of Keppra slowly over the next 4 months. It makes us a little nervous since she has been in it since she was 5 months old so basically her whole life. It is a seizure medicine that basically keeps a strong hold on your emotions so she might become a bit of a roller coaster for a few months. She also has a Vagal Nerve Stimulator implant that we have never really had progress with. The battery only has about 6 months left and we decided to just let it die. It requires a surgery to replace the battery and since we feel like it hasnt made a positive change that it wasnt worth it at this time. As the VNS progress is made and if they better the technology behind it we might consider it at that time and change the battery at the same time as an upgrade is made. Overall he was happy with her progress and hopefully all goes well with weaning her off her medicine that her body is most dependent on.
