We just got home from the ophthalmologist. Stuarts cataracts have - TopicsExpress

We just got home from the ophthalmologist. Stuarts cataracts have advanced a tad and the doc is starting him on eye drops. Hopefully, thid will keep us ahead of the 8 ball rather than behind it. I talked with her about worst case scenario if Stuart would one day need to have his eyes removed. She told mebthat though this might happen, in his case she thought it unlikely. What I am about to say I fear will make me sound shallow but hete goes. I would not hesitate to do what needed to be done if he were in pain, removing his eyes would take a toll on me personally I know they get along just fine, but it would be tough. Then the wonderful doctor showed me prosthetics for dogs! They are implanted at the time of enucleation and foes not require additional surgery. I saw pictures of dogs with artificial eyes and you cant tell the difference. I am muchly relievef and have a plan in place if that day ever comes. If there are folks out there that feel the same way I do...there is an option.
