We just got this email from the Israel Action Network. On July - TopicsExpress

We just got this email from the Israel Action Network. On July 4th, Grammy award-winning recording artist Alicia Keys will be performing in Tel Aviv. Despite having already publicly reaffirmed her plans to perform in Israel in The New York Times, the television network BET is now looking to weigh in on the matter. In an online poll responding to a BDS-supported petition campaign, BET asks, should Alicia Keys perform in Israel? Yesterday, we posted an action alert on our blog (israelactionnetwork.org/action-alert-support-alicia-keys-decision-to-perform-in-israel/) and social media channels asking you to vote, and thanks to your efforts, poll results have already shifted overnight with more than half of respondents now answering “Yes,” a significant improvement since the day prior. However, proponents of the cultural boycott against Israel are currently directing their followers to the poll on BET as well, to pressure Ms. Keys to cancel her show. As we have found in the past, positive messages of gratitude, peace and love are much more powerful than our opponents’ use of negativity. We thank you for your efforts, and urge you to do the following in support of Ms. Keys’ decision: 1. Respond ‘YES’ to BET’s poll, and echo her sentiment that music is meant to promote peace, while BDS campaigns only serve to further alienate it. Click here to access the poll. (bet/news/global/2013/06/12/poll-should-alicia-keys-perform-in-isreal.results.rightpoll.html#rightpoll) 2. We encourage you to continue to show Ms. Keys how enthusiastic we all are about her trip to Israel. Post on her Facebook page (https://facebook/aliciakeys) and send her tweets (@aliciakeys) thanking her for promoting a show of peace that will surely be a positive impact to the region.
