We just had the most amazing experience in Kurow. Attended a play performed by the Bacchanals Once we built A Tower. It tells the story about how the Labour Government of 1935 used the medical insurance scheme of the Wataki Dam as their basis for creating the Welfare State that was once the envy of the world. Ironic that people in the 1920s/1930s saw the same needs as we do today. This is an inspiring performance by a brilliant group of actors. A must see by any with a social conscience. Six more shows to go in Otago/Southland. Im going again!
