We just had to show off some of the progress that our girl Cindy has made over these last few weeks. You may all remember Cindy from when she went missing back in November, and was on the run for six long days. Young Cindy had finally gotten adopted but she was so terrified when she arrived at her new home, that she bolted from the car and took off on an outdoor excursion that led us to searching the military gun ranges around Fort Dix for almost a week until we finally got her back, safe and sound. After this very trying experience, Cindys adopters felt that she needed more work and socialization before she could go to a home, and they felt that they could not provide that for her, which is perfectly understandable. Weve been working diligently to help Cindy overcome her fear issues and she has made a lot of progress. Please understand that what Cindy has to overcome is not something that any of us would deal with well either. Cindy came from horrible circumstances in her former home. She lived her life at the end of a heavy chain and junkyard of a yard in Newark. She was chained out there since puppyhood, without much food, water or shelter, with little to no human contact, and with no one to care for her. Thankfully, once our Asst. Director in our AHS Newark facility was alerted to Cindys situation, he worked hard to rescue her from the deplorable conditions that she was living in. She was finally brought to safety and was in bad shape. Cindy was covered in dirt and mud, just skin and bones, and sick with various ailments. We spent a good deal of time getting her cleaned up and healthy again, then the work began of getting her to trust people. Cindy is not like other abused dogs. Abused pets get attention from people, granted, it is terrible attention, but they do have people interact with them. Cindy was neglected beyond belief and never, ever knew kindness from people. She has come a long way since coming to stay with us at Popcorn Park several months ago and now enjoys getting attention from the few people that she has come to know and trust. The thing that makes her happier more than anything is another friendly dog. As you can see in this video, Cindy comes alive when she sees her friend Evan, whom she has met several times now and just loves. Cindy is now searching for a home again but we now have several stipulations for her adopters. If you are interested in adopting Cindy, you must have another friendly dog at home to make her feel at ease. Cindy is also fine with cats. She will need a home with no children or a lot of commotion, and one that has a very secure, fenced yard. We will also be doing a home check prior to Cindy going home. This lovely little lady is only 2 1/2 years old and has yet to experience what its like to have a home of her own with a family to love her and never leave her out in the cold again. Please come in and meet Cindy, and give her a chance. youtu.be/NU2a-Jy9ND0
