We just purchased a 200 RoadTrek Popular on a 2000 Chevy Chassis - TopicsExpress

We just purchased a 200 RoadTrek Popular on a 2000 Chevy Chassis with only 85k miles. We Love it, Love it, Love It... It has a 120 VAC small dorm room type refrigerator that wed like to replace with a 12V/120VAC refrigerator. Through research we found a Novakool Model R5810 that will just fit into the refrigerator opening. (We also reviewed these others: Truckproof TF130AC/DC; Vitrifrigo C115IBD4-F; Norcold DE-0788; Norcold DE-0041) Any thoughts on the pros/cons on these? We need to determine if we need to purchase the dual 12V/120V type, of just purchase the 12V. Most of our travel will be boon-docking, so we are thinking that the 120AC wont really be needed that much, and most of these use a converter to convert the 120VAC to 12VDC anyway. My other thought is to just get an pure sine wave inverter to feed the existing 120VAC refrigerator, but this seems to be a lot of energy waste to convert the 120VAC to 12VDC, why not just go with a new 12VDC Fridge? To ensure adequate power for the refrigerator while traveling and boon-docking, we are also contemplating either replacing or adding to our current 12VDC House battery. We currently have a Marine Master 24M5 battery. These are rated at about 1.01 kWh (67 Amp Hrs at a 5 amp draw). Im thinking of replacing this with a larger capacity Deep-Cycle AGM type 12V battery (Trojan Model 31AGM with 1.33 kWh capacity). Or replacing my Marine Master with two or three of these Trojan Model 31AGM wired in parallel. However, Ive read discussions on using multiple batteries and needing some type of electronics to make sure they are charging/discharging similarly. I have plenty of room for these three 12V batteries. But what Id really like to do is get a larger higher capacity single AGM deep cycle battery like the Trojan 8D-AGM which has 3.05 kWh (179 amps at a 5 amp draw). I have plenty of room to put this big battery down under in the battery bay. Also would it be better to use two high capacity AGM deepcycle 6VDC batteries rather that the single 12VDC battery? If so, why? What are your opinions on these contemplations that we are thinking???? Thanks, and we truly Love your site, thanks for al your insights and experiences...
