We just received a press release about the movie The River Why, based on a novel that has become a fly fishing (and literary) classic set on the breathtaking rivers of Oregon. The movie came out in 2010, but never got theatrical release. Now with the debut of the new film Wild, marketed with the tagline from lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail, the folks behind The River Why are clearly hoping for an uptick in movie rentals. A hidden gem, The River Why film could easily be characterized as from lost to found on a wild Oregon river, states the press release. Click the link below to check out the trailer. All of this got us thinking about fishing movies. There have been some good ones, such as Grumpy Old Men, A River Runs Through It and Jaws, but plenty of bad ones, too.
