We just received a touching note from a family involved in Thursdays crash on I-295 that killed Jason Bailey. Bailey was working as a tow truck driver, loading Avonnia Jewel Gregorys car onto his trucker when he was hit and killed. Dwayne Gray Miller Jr., 31, of Mechanicsville, was driving drunk when his SUV ran off the road, struck the wrecker and then Bailey, according to State Police. Bailey was just 22-years-old. His son was less than a year old. The Jewel Gregory family, whose car Bailey was towing, sent this note: On behalf of my family and myself, we wish to extend our sincerest and deepest condolences to the family of Jason Bailey. Due to his commitment within his position, he had an untimely death while assisting me in what should have been an ordinary part of his job. Due to his determination in maintaining safety for me and my family, he requested for us to leave and subsequently, minutes later, he was struck and killed. This entire ordeal is still so surreal to us, however, we are grateful for who he was and all that he stood for. In an effort to assist with the raising of his soon to be one year old son, we are hosting a fundraising event on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the SweetFrog located at 7340 Forest Hill Ave, Richmond, Virginia 23225. Donations can be given all day, however, a fundraising event will be between 6:00pm and 8:00pm that evening. All proceeds from the event as well as a percentage of profits for that day will be given to the trust fund for Jason’s son. Please come and help us support his family. #RVA
