We keep getting told by all the mainstream media that Russian troops are massing on Ukraines border, about to invade. Now I wouldnt want to give any guarantees but Im almost certain theyre wrong. Crimea had been part of Russia before Khrushchevs grandiose gesture of handing it over to Ukraine, its borders are easily defined, and long before the recent plebiscite, Crimeans had already, back in 1991 when the Soviet Union broke up, voted overwhelmingly to be part of Russia but their wishes had been ignored. None of that applies to the ethnically Russian parts of eastern Ukraine, despite their wish to also join Russia. Putins annexation of Crimea is likened to Hitlers annexation of Czechoslovakias Sudetenland which had a majority German population. Pure bullshit.
