We know that many of you who work with several clients each day may have limited time to prepare and develop the training programs for your clients. Further, you have also told us that you are often challenged to come up with something new, to keep your programs fresh and interesting. Varying the tempo of the repetitions in resistance training is one of the easiest and most effective ways to apply systematic variation to a clients program. By varying the tempo, you change the time under tension, the peak levels of muscle tension and where in the movement peak tension is created. The result is that the involved muscles are activated differently, thus creating a different training stimulus. Essentially, a push up is not just a push up! If you perform a push up in a different tempo, the involved muscles are stimulated differently and the client will feel the difference IMMEDIATELY! In this 1-Day workshop you will learn The Tempo Matrix and the science behind it, including: - A review of scientific studies on repetition tempo - The different purposes of tempo for the beginner vs the advanced client. - The Tempo Matrix - Specific tempos to improve stability, strength, power, endurance and size and how they fit into a periodized plan for the beginner, intermediate and advanced client (a total of 30+different tempo variations). - How to change the tempo to emphasize concentric, eccentric or isometric strength. - How to control where in the movement peak tension is created with partial training. - The best tempo to use if the client has a minor overuse injury. - Tempo contrasts – the ultimate in variation. - How to write up the tempo in your training program Based on feedback from previous attendees in our workshops, we understand that many of you prefer hands-on learning. Therefore this workshop is 90 % practical with plenty of time for you to practice the different tempos so that you can confidently instruct them to your clients.
