We know that overfishing threatens the health of world’s oceans. - TopicsExpress

We know that overfishing threatens the health of world’s oceans. The needless waste of fish and wildlife inadvertently killed by nets or hooks – a problem known as bycatch – is an especially egregious example of our failure as a society to protect the blue heart of our planet. That’s why we believe it’s time for West Coast fishery managers to phase out the use of mile-long drift gillnets, which target swordfish off the California coast but inadvertently kill all sorts of other ocean wildlife, including dolphins, whales, and sharks drawn to one of the most ecologically diverse marine ecosystems on earth. If you feel as strongly about this as we do, we encourage you to make your views known to the Pacific Fishery Management Council by signing on to Pew Environments letter: bit.ly/14MCUEb.
