We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:3-6 NIV). Lip service in the name of God is all around us. Many do say I know Him, but do they really? The easy part is going to church and saying all the right things. Its easy to pick up the Bible and read a few verses. Its easy to show up at a church event and talk to others in fellowship. Its easy singing words from a hymnal or screen. Following Gods commands takes a complete change of lifestyle. It is a true love relationship with Jesus giving all we are and our life to Him. Our actions are the true test of devotion because they are motivated by our heart. If the Holy Spirit truly resides there, your actions will model those of Christ. It is mutually exclusive to love God and obey Him and to obey God and love Him. They both exist in a cohesive manner brought together by the Spirit dwelling in us. You cant have one without the other. See talk is truly cheap, but actions are worth their weight in holiness. To become a Christ follower, we transform to the likeness of Christ by the great power of the Holy Spirit. Its the small things people dont see, but feel the impact. Its the time by ourselves in our private prayer session with God that brings about His miracles. Its the smile or handshake or just a simple hello to a complete stranger that stokes the mystery of His great love. It is living the life of morality and purity not only at church, but at work, home, school, or on vacation. Do you talk a good game or do your actions tell the story? Its time to do some soul searching. It may be the time to truly give your life to Christ.
