We know this story all too well. My wonderful niece suffered for years with a mysterious progression of strange symptoms that seemed unrelated. It culminated in her neurologist insisting that she get psychiatric treatment -- he even went so far as to call three other doctors working with her to insist they stop looking for diagnosis because it was only going to reinforce in her that something was wrong when all she really needed was a shrink!!! Now, she has hit the one year anniversary of the start of her treatment for Lyme. You would not believe the mountain of pills she has taken in that time; she has saved every bottle as evidence of her journey. The political and financial ties that keep the CDC from doing the right thing is sickening. Thank God there are doctors who risk their livelihoods to treat patients.
