We know we are nearing the end of the week. Addie is tired and weepy and discouraged. She pleads to go home. This morning in our meeting with the doctors, nurses and therapists here, Addie had it in her head that they were going to tell her she could go home. And of course that didnt happen. When we returned to her room, she broke down in tears because the news she wanted to hear didnt come. Most of the time, I see my Addie come through just as she was before the accident- but sometimes the clear reprocussions of the brain injury are what we face. Its difficult when shes overstimulated and she shrinks into her little cocoon. But it is so painful when this symptom is coupled with fatigue, discouragement and sadness. Today during one episode I asked her what it felt like inside of her body and brain. She said it hurts Mom! Assuming it was physical pain I offered to ask for some medication to help her. Its not that kind of hurt. God has blessed us with many people here who support us and walk through this experience with us. People who have walked down this road- or walked with someone. They tell us what to expect and comfort and reassure us when the expected actually happens. Even so, their efforts seem futile when shes hurting and I am effortless to help. All we can do is answer her honestly, assure her that were here with her, and guide her eyes, thoughts and spirits back to the One who knows the hills and valleys and landmarks of this journey. Please keep us in your prayers dear friends as we press on. This article is taken from Joyce Meyers series, Why Do I Feel the Way I Feel? Keeping Your Peace Brings Maturity You and I have the privilege not only to believe in Christ but to endure a little bit of suffering while we’re waiting for His deliverance because it’s the hard times in our life that bring maturity. Every day that you stay firm in your faith and you don’t get your breakthrough, you’re growing spiritually that day. Jesus said, “In the world, you will have tribulation.” The purpose of having faith isn’t to avoid problems but to get through them with peace and stability. If the only time you can praise God is in the Promised Land, you have a problem. You need to praise Him in the wilderness. Actually, if you don’t praise God in the wilderness, you’ll never get to the Promised Land. We all have to do the right thing when it’s hard; when we don’t feel like doing it. That’s when we grow. (See Exodus 14:13-14.) Be determined to trust God. No matter what happens, hold your peace; remain at rest; keep an attitude of praise and thanksgiving; do what you can do; and keep on saying, “God is fighting for me.”
