We know what a society looks like that convicts people based on suspicion and speculation. I can say with great certainty that we dont want to become that. I have no evidence to call Coach Belichick or QB Tom Brady liars in this event and to my knowledge neither does anyone else; however, I am amazed at our tendencies to prosecute, convict, and declare to the world what the punishment should be to alleged wrong-doings based solely on speculation, bias, dislike, or interpretations of statements made in front of the media by people who are clearly not trained in effective media communications. If sound evidence emerges that proves they are lying to the world and that they intentionally cheated, then I too would support the NFL in taking disciplinary action, but what I am seeing and hearing in the media by pundits and others at this stage without credible evidence is totally inappropriate and sad and I believe those people are in the wrong for speaking the way they are prior to credible evidence being produced to support their judgments. I pray that Belichick and Brady are telling the truth, but far more important than that, I pray we do not devolve into the kind of society that this example appears to make us out to be. Lord help us all if we go there.
