We know youve probably seen the many posts about our Mary on this page. Thats because we just LOVE this dog. She really is a wonderful girl. As a matter of fact, she is now our directors office dog because she is such a great ambassador and a great greeter! She loves everyone who walks in the door. Surprising, perhaps, because of her past. Mary came to us with many old wounds and scars and in pretty poor shape. However, we quickly saw the old soul beauty inside. We take Mary to adoption events as she is rock-solid. She is also one of our dog testers to determine if other dogs at our shelter are dog-friendly or not as Mary is super with all other dogs. Shes also fine with cats! Mary has an incredible joy of life...always happy, always sweet.. Oh, and her ears... They only stand up straight in the wind! Kim Buda, one of our volunteers, wrote this poem for Mary.. I Fell in Love with a Pitbull Her body stands strong and firm with determination. She is a pitbull after all. Her fur is the blackest of black midnight. Her face is sweet, yet scarred from a former life. Her eyes sparkle with love and compassion. Yes, they are a window to her soul, she is an old soul. But those eyes show only hope and longing. She is ready for a new chapter in her life. She is ready for a safe and loving environment. Yes she is a pitbull, but she is a pit bull that is ready for unconditional love and a generous heart. A place to call her forever home. She is Mary.
